first_imgA 21-year-old student was shot dead allegedly by the son of a Manipur minister prompting a local committee to demand his immediate resignation over the incident.Irom Roger, a student in a Bangalore institute who had come to Manipur to participate in the holi festival was allegedly shot dead by N Ajai Meitei (27), son of Manipur minister for Irrigation, Flood Control and Sports N Biren, last evening at Kwakeithel area in Imphal West district,Police said.Official sources said that police suspected personal enmity appeared to be the cause.Meitei chased Roger in a vehicle and allegedly shot him from a M-20 pistol, they said, adding that Meitei later surrendered to police with his pistol.A spokesman of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of 21-year old student Irom Roger said the JAC has submitted a memorandum to chief minister O Ibobi Singh this morning asking him to sack N Biren Singh for proper investigation into the matter.Senior opposition MLA O Joy (Manipur People’s Party) on Monday raised the issue in the state assembly during zero hour demanding a proper investigation into the incident.Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said in the Assembly that he would make a statement during the present assembly session.- With PTI inputslast_img
